Lesson #12 - Fresh Homemade Pancakes
Summer is over and Jameson is excited to get back into his weekly cooking classes. If you haven't been following us, you will notice that over the summer he had a short stint with a cast after breaking his arm. Our high flying future American Ninja Warrior is now cast free and ready to start the school year.
We are starting off with a simple, delicious pancake. Welcome Back!
Prep Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 20 mins
Serving: 8 large pancakes
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
STEP ONE:
In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
STEP TWO:
In the middle of the powder mixture make a small dent and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter. Whisk together until smooth.
STEP THREE:
Heat up the pan and spray it with oil or coat it with butter. While it is heating up transfer the mixture to a measuring cup.
STEP FOUR:
TASTE THE PANCAKE MIXTURE! Disclaimer: There is raw egg in the mixture so use your discretion. Sawyer without a doubt tastes everything he makes so we let him explore the flavors.
STEP FIVE:
Pour the mixture into the pan. It's up to you how big you make it, so have fun. You can get creative with the shapes by using squeeze bottles.
Wait for the pancake to start forming bubbles. This indicates it is ready to flip. The bottom should be a light brown prior to flipping. Take a quick peek before flipping.
STEP SIX:
Plate the pancake and ask your big brother to come test them out! It was a successful day!
